정신적으로 약간 문제가 있는 세사람과 미모의 젊은 아가씨가 벌이는 모험담을 그린 영화. 예측을 불허하는 사건 전개와 코믹 연기가 좋은 평을 얻었다. 건망증이 아주 심해서 뭐든지 잊어버리는 디블리, 가상의 어머니를 항상 모시고 사는 집착증 환자 스와보다, 깡패같은 젊은이 로키와 여배우 스타일의 극성쟁이 아가씨 키티의 인격이 한 사람 안에 쉴새없이 출몰하는 정신분열증의 월터 등 정신장애가 있는 세 사람은 함께 병원을 다녀오다가 움푹 팬 도로의 깊은 틈에 박혀 차가 완전히 부서지고 만다. 이 자동차가 부서진 것은 시 당국의 책임이라고 결론을 내린 이들은 시청을 찾아가 자동차값 변상을 요구하지만 미리 웅덩이에 대한 신고를 하지 않았었기 때문에 해당사항이 없다고 쫓겨난다. 이들은 시장으로부터 고물차값 650달러를 변상받기 위해서 국군의 날 행사용으로 운반중인 대포를 트레일러째 손에 넣은 다음 항구의 관광 페리를 납치, 대포를 싣고 해변에 있는 시장관저 앞으로 간다.
